The Cambria Hotel Calabasas-Malibu has set a new benchmark for excellence, earning the coveted 2024 Hotel of the Year award. This recognition is a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to building the right culture, maximizing individual strengths, and working together as one cohesive unit.

The results of their dedication speak for themselves. In 2024, the hotel achieved outstanding performance in key metrics, with LTR scores surpassing 9 for the first time and an index maintaining a strong 112, even as ADR grew by 5% year-over-year. The team’s relentless pursuit of excellence translated into a 14.6% year-over-year revenue increase, with restaurant revenue growing by 24% in food sales and 20% in beverage sales. Most impressively, the F&B operation turned profitable for the first time since opening, boasting a 573.4% increase in profitability—a testament to strategic leadership and an owner’s mindset.

Beyond financial performance, the hotel excelled in guest satisfaction and operational excellence. The team proudly received multiple awards at our 2024 annual company conference, Come Together, where they celebrated their achievements in style, walking the red carpet to mark their success. Among their standout recognitions:

His 2024 Quality Assurance Score reached an impressive 93.3%, with cleanliness scores at 90.2% and stay scores at 84%. His hotel’s index remains over fair share at 136, marking a five-point increase year over year. These achievements are not just numbers—they represent a commitment to operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

What truly sets Rikin apart is his quiet but powerful leadership. He leads by example, whether he’s at the Front Desk welcoming guests or walking rooms with his Housekeepers. His hands-on approach fosters trust, respect, and a deep sense of teamwork among his staff. His property faces the same challenges as any other, yet his leadership ensures some of the strongest guest experience scores among Hampton Inn & Suites properties. His team’s positive engagement in the Associate Engagement Survey, with positive scores across every single category, speaks volumes about his ability to create a thriving work environment. Director of Sales of the Year: Jennifer Byerly

A strong sales leader is more than just a revenue driver—they inspire teams, create unforgettable experiences, and set a vision for success. This year’s Director of Sales of the Year, Jennifer Byerley, exemplifies all these qualities and more.

She closed out Q4 at 122% of target and drove a year-over-year revenue increase of over $1.1 million across key business areas.

Jennifer is also a master of event management, ensuring that every detail is executed flawlessly. Her commitment to guest experience extends beyond sales—she ensures VIPs receive extraordinary welcomes, complete with premium room upgrades and thoughtful amenities.
